CV Olivier Blom

Industrial design

tue.png

As a critical but visionary designer I know to challenge the status quo to gain insight into complex problems and come up with new solutions. Pair that with my interest in interaction and experience design and I will connect the dots to create a concept with innovative interaction and a context-fitting user experience. Give me a task and I’ll present a vision, but pair me with a team and we’ll make impact.

Why we should work together:

  • We push current ideas to create future-centered design while staying considerate of consequences in the design context.

  • We value user's problems and will do everything to methodically create concepts that represent their values and make these concepts a reality.

  • We find it necessary to address social and environmental sustainability in the things we make.

Runner-up of the Human-centered Interior Architecture award

Solar Decathlon Europe 2021/2022

HTN-hackathon, March 2022

Team: Hollie Andrews, Joshua Doromal, Sayantani Nandan

During this one-weekend challenge we worked in a newly formed, international team, to tackle client and manufacturer engagement for environmental sustainability. As responsible for the concept and demo I combined market, trend and sustainability research to design a service that gave customers insight in their green-line washing machine's (white-goods) impact, as well as their saved 'pension' for their machine repairs or renewal. Competing with existing startups and teams alike we placed 2nd in our category and won the Beko special award for direct applicability.

Runner-up Circular economy challenge

'A pension for your washing machine'. A business model promoting prolonged use of white goods by using ESG funds to provide repairs and end-of-life solutions while also maintaining brand lock-in.

Winner of the Beko special award

The direct applicability of the platform showing the user what positive environmental and societal impact their choice has made was awarded by HackTheNormal partner Beko.
